10 weeks or 2 1/2 months?
Which sounds older? 10 weeks seems younger to me, but I secretly want him to stay little forever. Although he’s not so little for his age.
I think it’s a typical mom thing to do, but Reily is so much fun to watch as he explores his little world! Our little king is also very precious as he sleeps.
I love the innocence and wonder as he sees things from new perspectives. We just need him to contain the drool a little better

At Starbucks he turns his head side to side like a tennis match, watching all the different people come and go. He is still exploring his own hands, feet and mouth. Recently he discovered that he can put things in his mouth with his own hands! We’re still working on the bottle, but he’s close!
He laughs when Dan washes his gums, lets hope that this leads to diligent brushing!
Reily has also discovered Belle, our cat. He doesn’t know what to think about the fur ball walking around so he stares quietly. Belle likes Reily a little more these days because he doesn’t cry as much and didn’t even flinch when Reily rolled over on her one day.
Check him out in his Ohio State outfit for the big game today! GO BUCKS!

Missing
I can’t seem to find it. Christine and I have looked everywhere. We’ve checked our email…we checked our all around the apartment…nothing. We look at our schedules and still can’t seem to understand it nor where it went. Reily turned 2 months this past Saturday – two months! And where did all that time go? I suppose it would be easier for us to account for the time if we kept track of time in a different fashion…like how many diapers he’s gone through since we’ve brought him home…
or…perhaps the number of onesies he’s outgrown…or…the number of hours that we’ve slept since his arrival. And on the sleep subject, we realize that sleep is for the weak…and we long for the day to be weak! Sleep aside, we are still loving every moment of being parents. Every day is different and nothing seems to work twice. Its fantastic as it forces you to never give up…teaches persistance. So here we sit, two months after his arrival and we wanted to offer a few photos from this past month.
Some of his major events this past month include going to the Los Angeles Zoo, rolling over (twice!), meeting his Aunt Pam and Uncle Jeff, experiencing his first rain, wearing a snow cap, learning to pull his passifier out of his mouth, weighing in 4 lbs more than the neighbor girl who was born 2 weeks before him, tasting soap that was mistakeningly left in his nipple because it didn’t get washed out completely, witnessing Mom & Dad vote, be mistaken for a 6 month old, 4 month old, and referred to as a ‘bigger baby’ all in the same day, finished watching the first season of the West Wing reruns (his favorite show), and establishing himself as a morning person! Quite the list and with that, we’ve put together a little photo show to try to capture his past month -

Reily’s First Halloween
This is the first time in the past 7 years that we had trick or treaters! Well, kind of. We had one boy who came to the front door. Then the back door where he took more candy and proceeded to ask for a “donation for his school”. Dan asked him how and the boy replied “you know, like just give me five or ten dollars.” To which Dan replied, “Maybe next time.”
Reily’s Halloween outfit lasted about three hours before he sprinkled all over it while Dan changed his diaper. This is starting to be a little suspicious that he pees when his diaper comes off. My favorite part is that this outfit is actually 6-9 months (Yes, he is only 2 months this week!) and check out how well these pants fit his waist, but not in length

Like Father, Like Son
Reily may get his ear lobes from his mom, but he gets a whole lot more from his dad! Just take a look at these two watching Notre Dame last week to spot some similarities

Neither one has had a hair cut in weeks, both have a security item (nunnie for Reily, remote control for Dan) and both “watch” football with their eyes closed. Best of all, they both have a great sense of humor and find themselves hysterical. Although, I believe this originated with Rich. Reily often laughs so hard in his sleep, that he does deep belly laughs that wake him out of his slumber!
Did I mention that they both have a great butt? And enjoy bathtime?

The men in my life keep me on my toes, but I’m loving every minute of it!

Just Practicing
I think it was my suggestion to do a final load of laundry before we go for another walk that got Dan’s attention. We thought for sure that last night was going to be our little guy’s big introduction to the world. We timed over 67 contractions ranging from 3:30 min to 8 min over the course of 6 hours, making initial phone calls and text messages to the grandparents to be, letting them know we thought the arrival was imminent…only to continue to watch the contractions vary in length and slowly taper off. Finally, finding absolutely nothing interesting on TV, we went to sleep last night around 2am.
I was able to sleep through the night and have continued to have some contractions today, but again, they are all over the place in timing and intensity. We have a doctor visit at 9am tomorrow, but we’re still hoping that our little guy will be here in time for the UCLA game tonight!
